Voiding and Refunding Unused Shipping Labels
Learn how to void unused shipping labels and receive refunds from USPS, FedEx, and UPS.
Understanding Label Refunds
Made a mistake or no longer need a shipping label? PostageEasy makes it easy to void labels and receive refunds. However, timing and carrier policies vary.
USPS Refund Policy
USPS labels can be voided for a full refund if:
- The label has not been scanned by USPS
- The request is made within 30 days of purchase
- The label was purchased through PostageEasy (not directly from USPS)
Processing Time: Refunds typically appear in your account within 5-7 business days.
FedEx Refund Policy
FedEx labels can be voided for a full refund if:
- The label has not been scanned into the FedEx system
- The request is made within 30 days of purchase
Processing Time: Refunds typically appear in your account within 3-5 business days.
UPS Refund Policy
UPS labels can be voided for a full refund if:
- The package was not delivered or attempted for delivery
- The request is made within 90 days of purchase
Processing Time: Refunds typically appear in your account within 7-10 business days.

- You'll receive confirmation via email
Common Void Issues
"Label Already Scanned" Error
If the carrier has already scanned your package, you cannot void the label. The shipment is in the carrier's system and will be delivered. You may be eligible for a service refund if the package is returned to sender.
"Outside Void Window" Error
Labels must be voided within the carrier's specified timeframe (30-90 days). After this window, refunds are not available.
Partial Refunds
In some cases, you may receive a partial refund if:
- The package was returned to sender (you'll be refunded the difference between outbound and return shipping)
- The service level was downgraded by the carrier
Best Practices
- Double-check addresses and package details before purchasing labels
- Void unused labels as soon as possible to get refunds faster
- Keep voided labels in a separate folder to avoid confusion
- Review your shipments weekly to catch any errors early
